The Akwa Ibom State Government declared Friday, November 29, 2024, a work-free day to honor the late First Lady, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, and allow residents and well-wishers to pay their final respects.

This announcement was made in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, on Wednesday in Uyo, the state capital.

The late First Lady passed away on September 26, 2024, following a brief illness.

Her burial ceremony will take place in the governor’s hometown, Ikot Ekpene Udo, located in the Nsik-Ibium Local Government Area of the state.

The statement read: “Further to the final home-going programme of our departed First Lady, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno, the Akwa Ibom State Government, in consultation with the bereaved family, has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, a work-free day in honor of our dear mother.

This is to enable Akwa Ibomites to pay their last respects at her obsequies in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsik-Ibium Local Government Area of the state on that day.

May the gentle soul of our departed First Lady find repose in the bosom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

The late First Lady’s passing is deeply mourned across the state, and the work-free day provides an opportunity for the public to unite in her memory.
