The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has released its latest Air Quality Index, revealing that Agege has the highest hazardous air quality level in the state, scoring a concerning 103 percent.

This figure indicates significantly suboptimal air quality for local residents.

Following Agege, Surulere recorded a score of 76.1 percent, categorized as very unhealthy. Other areas affected include Mushin with 47.3 percent (unhealthy) and LAMATA Kosefe at 46 percent (unhealthy).

The Lagos Port in Apapa also showed concerning figures, scoring 36.4 percent (unhealthy), while Badagry reported 23.8 percent (unhealthy for sensitive groups).

Moloney Street followed with a score of 20.7 percent (unhealthy for sensitive groups), and Egbeda scored 15.7 percent (moderate).

NIMET Oshodi recorded a moderate air quality level of 14.1 percent, while the General Hospital in Ikeja scored 12.6 percent, and LSDPC Estate in Lagos Island had a score of 12.1 percent, both categorized as moderate.

In contrast, Lekki emerged as the city with the best air quality, scoring 10.1 percent, while LASEPA reported a self-assessed air quality score of 7.6 percent, classified as good.

In response to the index, LASEPA acknowledged the challenges posed by the current air quality levels but reassured Lagos residents that it is diligently working to improve the state’s air quality.
