Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, has announced that he has received a draft of the National Integrated Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan (NIEP-SIP), aimed at attracting investment and enhancing power supply.
Speaking on Wednesday at the draft’s official presentation in Abuja, Adelabu revealed that the policy document will be submitted to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approval within the next six weeks.
Adelabu emphasized that this event marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s quest for a robust, sustainable, and inclusive power sector.
“This policy document, once amended with feedback from all stakeholders, will be formally presented to the Federal Executive Council for approval within the next six weeks,” he stated.
He described the NIEP-SIP as a comprehensive blueprint detailing policy interventions across the entire electricity value chain—from generation and transmission to distribution and off-grid segments.
Adelabu outlined the policy’s key objectives: improving sector liquidity, creating a favorable investment climate, integrating renewable energy, enhancing grid reliability, ensuring equitable electricity access, boosting local content and capacity, and promoting gender inclusivity.
