The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), reinstated Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN) as the Chairman of its National Executive Committee (NEC) following a resolution of the leadership crisis within the organization.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ACF Secretary-General Malam Murtala Aliyu announced that the suspension was lifted after successful intervention by the Forum’s Unity, Peace, and Reconciliation Committee, chaired by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed.
Aliyu stated, “The ACF Unity, Peace, and Reconciliation Committee, under the chairmanship of Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, Ajiyan Katagum, intervened in the recent leadership crisis in ACF.
Stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council, among others, engaged in a family discussion to address the unfortunate development.”
He further noted that the issues had been resolved amicably in the interest of the northern region, and Osuman’s suspension was officially withdrawn.
Osuman had been suspended over remarks that were deemed by some members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and NEC to contradict the organization’s stance on non-partisanship.
Specifically, he was accused of making unauthorized statements suggesting that the North would support a northern presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.
The reinstatement comes as a move to restore unity within the ACF and reaffirm its commitment to promoting the collective interests of the northern region.
