Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, is set to visit Nigeria and three other African nations as part of his annual diplomatic engagements.

The visits, scheduled from January 5 to January 11, 2025, will also include stops in Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, and Chad.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced the itinerary in a statement on Friday, confirming that the trips are being made at the invitation of the respective countries.

“This marks the 35th consecutive year that the Chinese foreign minister’s first overseas trip of the year is dedicated to Africa,” Mao stated.

The visits underscore China’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with African nations as part of its long-standing tradition of prioritizing Africa in its foreign policy agenda.
