Traditional leaders in Ibadan, including Mogajis, Baales, chiefs, and market leaders, have lauded the Osun State Government’s decision to approve Prince Haastrup Adesuyi as the Owa Obokun of Ijesa-elect.

In a statement released by Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, Coordinator of the Ibadan Compounds Peace Initiatives (ICPI), the leaders described the move as a landmark achievement for the Ijesa community and its traditional institutions.

The chiefs applauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for his commitment to preserving traditional governance and upholding the prestigious Owa Obokun title. “This approval marks a pivotal step toward unity and stability in Ijesa,” the statement read.

The statement also highlighted Prince Haastrup’s leadership qualities, describing him as a dedicated advocate for community development and an ideal choice to assume the revered role.

“We are confident that Prince Haastrup’s ascension will bring positive changes and significantly enhance the socio-economic conditions of the Ijesa people,” the chiefs stated.

The leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional rulers and the government to tackle challenges facing the Ijesa community. They urged continued support from the Osun State Government to create an environment where traditional institutions can thrive and contribute to peace and development.

The Mogajis underscored the historical importance of the Owa Obokun title, which has symbolized leadership and authority in the Ijesa kingdom for generations. They pledged their support to Prince Haastrup, vowing to work together for the prosperity and well-being of the community.

Additionally, the chiefs encouraged other communities to recognize the value of traditional leadership in fostering unity and progress.

The statement concluded with an appeal to the Osun State Government to continue prioritizing traditional institutions and acknowledging their vital role in societal development.
