The Nigerian Senate has commended Dr. Aliko Dangote for his significant contributions to industrial development, particularly through the establishment of a heavy-duty truck assembly plant.
During an inspection visit to the Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited Assembly Plant in Ikeja, Lagos, Senator Shuaibu Lau, Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, lauded the company’s achievements in advancing Nigeria’s industrial landscape.
Following the tour, Senator Lau expressed the committee’s satisfaction with the assembly plant’s operations and urged the company to prioritize sourcing raw materials locally. “The leadership of the National Assembly (NASS) is ready to support Dangote in competing with global manufacturers,” Senator Lau remarked.
He further assured the company of the Senate’s commitment to addressing challenges through legislative and policy support. “We have listened to some of your challenges. NASS is prepared to assist you with legislation and policies that will enhance your operations. Early next year, we will revisit to review your needs and ensure your interests are safeguarded,” he added.
Praising Dangote’s vision, Senator Lau stated, “We thank Dangote for putting Nigeria on the map of industrial nations.”
The Senate delegation included prominent lawmakers, such as Senator Sadiq Umar, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Ekong Sampson, and Senator Benson Agadaga. They were joined by representatives of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), including Director-General Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, Director of Policy Sani Musa, and Deputy Director of Press and Protocol Felicia Oyebolu.
The visit highlights the Senate’s resolve to foster Nigeria’s industrial growth through collaboration and policy support.
