A suicide bomber linked to Boko Haram detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Wednesday, killing two people and injuring three others at a mourning gathering in Dalori, located in Konduga Local Government Area near Maiduguri, Borno State.

According to a credible security source, the assailant infiltrated the group of mourners, who were gathered to pay their respects to a victim of a Boko Haram attack that occurred a day earlier.

Reports indicate that the initial attack on Tuesday had left two people injured.

Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident, stating that normalcy has been restored. “A bomb attack was reported in Dalori, but normalcy has returned to the area,” he said.

The Dalori bombing came just a day after the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) reportedly launched multiple drone attacks on a military base in Wajiroko, a remote area in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Intelligence sources revealed that ISWAP terrorists initially attacked the Wajiroko military position with firearms at about 11:30 pm on Tuesday. Troops successfully repelled the first assault, forcing the militants to retreat. However, the terrorists regrouped and returned, using drones equipped with locally fabricated grenades to target the military base.

The attack injured five soldiers and caused damage to military equipment, according to sources.

The military has yet to issue an official statement on the Wajiroko incident.
