The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 3,180 officers across Abuja to enhance security and ensure the safety of residents during the 2024 Christmas celebrations.

Announcing the initiative, Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, emphasized a robust security presence at worship centers, event venues, and other public areas. He noted that the operation also targets potential security risks in black spots, uncompleted buildings, and informal settlements.

The security measures include deploying Rapid Response Squads and Tactical Teams, conducting stop-and-search operations, and implementing vehicular and foot patrols. Additionally, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams will carry out security checks on critical government and public infrastructure.

A statement from the FCT Police Command revealed that collaboration with other security agencies will bolster public safety during the festive period. CP Disu also stressed the importance of partnership with religious leaders and operators of recreational facilities to create a secure environment.

In a goodwill message, CP Disu extended warm Christmas wishes to the Christian community and all residents of the FCT. He reassured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to their safety while advising against the use of fireworks, knockouts, or firecrackers to avoid causing panic.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities via the following emergency numbers:

08032003913

08061581938

07057337653

08028940883

For complaints, residents can contact the Police Complaint Bureau at 09022223527.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its dedication to ensuring a peaceful and secure festive season for all residents and visitors.
