President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly, originally slated for Tuesday, December 17, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, December 18.

This development was confirmed by a top management staff member of the National Assembly, who disclosed that an official statement on the postponement is expected within hours.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had initially announced during Thursday’s plenary that President Tinubu would present the 2025 budget on December 17. “The president has made his intention known to the National Assembly to present the 2025 budget to the joint Assembly on the 17th of December, 2024,” Akpabio stated.

According to the Senate President, the budget presentation will take place at the House of Representatives Chamber, with plenary scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. to allow senators to convene in the Red Chamber before proceeding in procession to the House of Representatives for the formal session.

Last month, President Tinubu submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) for 2025–2027 to the Senate and House of Representatives, marking a critical step in the budgetary process.

Details surrounding the reason for the rescheduling are yet to be disclosed.
