Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully rescued three kidnap victims in Manzala village, Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on December 13, 2024, followed a distress call about bandit activities in the area. Acting swiftly, the troops mobilized to the scene, pursued the kidnappers, and secured the release of the victims. According to the Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Olubodunde Oni, the rescued individuals have since been reunited with their families.

In the aftermath of the rescue, troops intensified their efforts with aggressive fighting patrols, focusing on mountainous terrains and known flashpoints in Ardo-Kola and Yorro Local Government Areas. These measures aim to neutralize threats and maintain law and order in the region.

In a related development, on December 12, 2024, troops on patrol along the Takum-Katsina Ala expressway responded to an armed robbery in progress near Kasuwan Shanu in Takum town. Their swift action led to the arrest of a suspect, identified as Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was found with a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, highlighted the significance of these successes under Operation GOLDEN PEACE. The operation is aimed at ensuring peace and stability in Taraba and parts of Benue State by disrupting criminal activities and enhancing security.

Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, General Uwa reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He also urged residents to support the military’s efforts by providing credible information to aid the fight against crime.

“These successes reflect our determination to deny criminal elements the freedom to operate and to foster lasting peace in our area of responsibility,” General Uwa stated.
