Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, famously dubbed the “Nigerian Freak,” delivered a dominant performance to power his team to the 2024 NBA Cup final with a hard-fought 110-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
Antetokounmpo showcased his all-around brilliance, tallying 30 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. The two-time MVP was particularly clutch in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of his points to secure the Bucks’ triumph. He also delivered the game’s standout moment with a spectacular block that highlighted his defensive prowess.
Speaking after the game, Antetokounmpo said, “We came out with a lot of energy, and my teammates trusted me to deliver when it mattered most. It was a team effort all the way.”
Damian Lillard, another key contributor for Milwaukee, added 25 points, sinking five three-pointers and going 8-of-21 from the field. The Bucks collectively made 14 of their 45 three-point attempts and shot 45.3% overall, while also dominating in fast-break points with a 22-15 edge.
On the opposing side, Atlanta’s Trae Young led with a valiant 35-point effort, adding 10 assists and seven rebounds. Young was instrumental in cutting Milwaukee’s lead during the third quarter, scoring 14 points in the frame. However, his efforts were not enough to overcome the Bucks’ depth and resilience.
The Hawks shot 42.7% from the field and made 10 of their 24 three-point attempts. Despite their efficiency, they were outrebounded 47-44, limiting their second-chance opportunities.
With this victory, the Bucks now advance to the 2024 NBA Cup final, seeking their first title in this tournament.
