Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, officially commenced the construction of the 4.7-kilometer Utteh Palace Road in Benin, a significant infrastructure project aimed at fulfilling his campaign promise to the community.
The flag-off ceremony, held on Monday evening, marked a pivotal step toward improved connectivity in the Edo South Senatorial District.
Governor Okpebholo reiterated his dedication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, emphasizing the priority placed on road construction and other developmental projects across the state.
Speaking at the event, Okpebholo highlighted the transformative potential of the road project, which will connect Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwonde Local Government Areas, enhancing accessibility and stimulating economic growth.
“I was here about three months ago during my campaigns.
At that time, the road was in a deplorable state, and I promised the community that when we came into government, we would fix it.
Today, I am here to fulfill that promise,” he stated.
He added, “We are committed to keeping our word and ensuring that our people have a road they can be proud of.
This project aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, and as his ‘children,’ we must deliver results that reflect his vision for development.”
Risen Fan, the project contractor, assured the community of timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
“We are committed to working with the state government and the host community to complete this project promptly and to specification.
This initiative will pave the way for further innovations and investments in agriculture, ICT, education, and healthcare,” he said.
Lucky Asemota, Secretary of the Utteh community, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the governor for addressing the long-standing issue.
“We are happy that the Governor remembered us and has kept his campaign promise.
This road will greatly benefit our residents and businesses,” Asemota noted.
The project signals a renewed focus on infrastructure development in Edo State, with expectations of significant positive impacts on the region’s socio-economic landscape.
