Sweden and Denmark, finalized a $2.3 billion contract with Swedish military manufacturer BAE Systems Hägglunds to acquire 205 CV90 armored combat vehicles, replenishing their stocks after contributing to Ukraine’s defense efforts, the Swedish government announced on Friday.
Under the agreement, Denmark will receive 115 vehicles, Sweden 50, and Ukraine 40, funded through previously allocated contributions from Sweden and Denmark.
“These investments will enable more Swedish combat vehicles to enhance security in Europe, particularly in Ukraine,” Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson stated in a government release.
The CV90 combat vehicle is currently operated by 10 countries, including the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
This deal underscores Sweden and Denmark’s commitment to bolstering defense capabilities and supporting European and Ukrainian security amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
