Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, expressed satisfaction with the progress of several key infrastructure projects, including the remodeling of the Governor’s Office complex, the state library, the previously abandoned Local Government Service Commission office, and the Governor’s Lodge.

Speaking during an inspection tour on Wednesday, Governor Otu praised the quality and pace of the work being executed, emphasizing the long-term benefits of these projects for governance and public service delivery.

Highlighting the redesign of the Local Government Service Commission office, which had been abandoned for over a decade, Otu noted its potential to enhance public administration and boost productivity.

“The design and ambiance of the Local Government Service Commission office building will significantly elevate operational efficiency in public administration and bolster productivity,” he remarked.

The governor underscored the importance of providing modern, functional workspaces for civil servants.

“An adequately equipped secretariat will empower our workers to better serve the public and foster greater efficiency, which will, in turn, improve governance outcomes,” he added.

During the tour, Otu also inspected the reconstruction of the State Library, which is being transformed from a neglected facility into a modern learning hub.

The revamped library will include state-of-the-art features such as dedicated reading spaces, computer facilities, e-learning resources, and communal areas for educational programs and exhibitions.

“Investing in our libraries equates to investing in our future.

We must provide our citizens with the tools to thrive in an increasingly competitive world,” Otu stated.

Additionally, the governor visited the ongoing refurbishment of his main office, a project that has been underway for 18 months.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding high standards and quality in all development efforts.

As part of the tour, Otu inspected the newly asphalted Harcourt Street in Calabar South, commending the workmanship.

“Aligned with our mandate to restore state assets to their intended use, I am here to assess the progress.

From what I’ve seen, the quality and standards are exceptional,” the governor said.

Governor Otu’s tour highlights his administration’s dedication to revitalizing state infrastructure and fostering a conducive environment for governance, learning, and public service.
