The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has vowed to enforce strict penalties against individuals using vehicles with illegal tinted windows, a measure aimed at tackling the alarming rise in “one chance” criminal activities in Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, issued the warning during a press conference, emphasizing that the crackdown on tinted glass violations is part of efforts to safeguard residents from criminals who pose as commercial cab drivers to abduct unsuspecting victims.
“Our enforcement of tinted glass regulations is a critical step in addressing the menace of ‘one chance’ operators in the FCT,” Disu stated.
Highlighting the results of ongoing efforts, Disu disclosed that the command’s special tactical team has impounded 296 vehicles for various infractions, including the illegal use of tinted windows, driving with only one license plate, and the use of concealed or defaced number plates.
The police commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to comply with the law, warning that violators will face stringent sanctions.
This renewed focus on tinted glass regulations is part of broader efforts by the FCT Police Command to enhance security and curb rising crime rates in the nation’s capital.
