President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling security threats and violent crimes in Nigeria. He also praised the Armed Forces for successfully hosting the 2nd African Military Games in Abuja, describing the event as a testament to unity and collaboration across the continent.

Speaking at the closing ceremony held at the Moshood Agboola Stadium on Saturday night, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, commended the military for their efforts in organizing the event. He highlighted the games as a platform for showcasing not just athletic skills but also the strength of camaraderie and shared purpose among African nations.

“The games we have witnessed are a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we unite, not just as soldiers, but as guardians of a shared destiny,” Tinubu said. “This platform offers opportunities to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions to our challenges.”

The president underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing common security challenges and emphasized the role of events like the African Military Games in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

As Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Tinubu reiterated his commitment to pursuing stabilizing solutions across the continent, stating that this responsibility is essential for the peace and prosperity of the region.

“The spirit of collaboration exemplified by this edition of the African Military Games is significant, coming 22 years after the inaugural event,” he noted, commending the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), Major General Abdullahi Maikano, for their leadership in ensuring the event’s success.

Tinubu also congratulated the participants for their professionalism and sportsmanship. “You have shown not only your military expertise but also your extraordinary abilities as sportsmen and women,” he said.

The president concluded by calling for deeper ties among nations and a strengthened sense of camaraderie among military personnel, emphasizing that such unity is crucial for achieving shared goals and addressing the continent’s challenges.
