Taiwo Awoniyi has struggled to replicate his impressive performances from last season, leading to a decrease in his playing time at Nottingham Forest. The forward has yet to score this season and has been overshadowed by Chris Wood, who has netted eight goals, raising concerns among fans about Awoniyi’s future at the club.
However, Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo remains confident that Awoniyi will return to his best form. Speaking after Awoniyi’s start against Arsenal last week, Nuno said, “It’s his fitness, his confidence, and he is looking for his goal. Everything changes in the mindset of a striker when you score; suddenly everything comes. We are waiting for this click. We trust him.”
Nuno emphasized that Awoniyi’s breakthrough could come with a single goal, which would help him regain his form.
With Nottingham Forest set to face Ipswich Town at the City Ground today, Awoniyi will be hoping for another opportunity to start and get his season back on track.
