Veteran juju music legend King Sunny Ade (KSA) will make a special appearance in Toyin Abraham’s highly anticipated comedy film, Alakada! Bad and Boujee. The movie, set to hit cinemas on December 20, marks the fifth installment in the widely loved Alakada series.
The story follows Yetunde, played by Toyin Abraham, a young woman grappling with insecurities and masking her feelings of inadequacy through exaggerated tales about her social status. Known for its humorous take on societal themes, the Alakada franchise has become a cultural staple in Nigerian cinema.
Abraham shared her excitement about KSA’s involvement on Instagram, posting a video of the 78-year-old music icon arriving on set. She described his participation as a long-held dream finally realized, crediting her husband, Kola Ajeyemi, for inspiring her to pursue it.
“A cherished dream achieved: King Sunny Ade in Alakada! Bad and Boujee. I’m thrilled to announce that my dream has come true!” she wrote.
“Despite initial doubts, my husband’s encouragement propelled me to pursue my dream relentlessly. Daddy wá, Sir King Sunny Ade, thank you for being part of this project! Your presence is a testament to your enduring legacy. May God continue to bless and elevate you. Get ready, Alakada is poised to become a cultural phenomenon!”
King Sunny Ade is celebrated as one of Africa’s most influential musicians and a trailblazer who brought juju music to the global stage. His inclusion in Alakada! Bad and Boujee adds a historic and cultural depth to the film, further raising anticipation among fans.
With its star-studded cast and the addition of an iconic figure like KSA, Alakada! Bad and Boujee promises to be a memorable experience for audiences when it debuts later this year.
