France has paid tribute to legendary actor Alain Delon, who passed away at the age of 88.
Despite his towering presence in cinema, Delon had requested a private burial near his dogs on his property in Douchy, central France, where he died.
His three children, Anthony, Anouchka, and Alain-Fabien, united in announcing his death after months of disputes over his medical care.
Delon’s passing dominated French media, with newspapers featuring images of the actor in his prime. He was celebrated for iconic roles in the 1960s and 70s, such as his portrayal of an assassin in Le Samouraï.
Fellow stars, including Brigitte Bardot, paid tribute, while French President Emmanuel Macron hailed him as a “French monument.”
Delon’s legacy extended internationally, with global media outlets recognizing him as one of cinema’s most enigmatic figures.
Despite his screen success, Delon’s personal life was marked by controversies, including allegations of domestic violence and political affiliations.
