Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has established a 12-member committee tasked with recovering all state-owned vehicles currently in private possession.

At a formal ceremony on Thursday in Benin City, the governor announced the formation of the committee, which is chaired by Kelly Okungbowa. Okpebholo gave the team a strict two-week deadline to recover all government vehicles and return them to the state’s control.

Following the committee’s inauguration, Okungbowa expressed his gratitude to the governor for the trust placed in the team, and emphasized their commitment to fulfilling the mandate.

“There are many government vehicles still in private hands, and it is our responsibility to ensure their return within the given timeframe,” Okungbowa said. “A significant number of vehicles from the previous administration are unaccounted for, as those holding them have refused to return them. The governor has given us this mandate, and we are ready to recover all such vehicles.”

Okungbowa further outlined that the committee is composed of members representing the three Senatorial Districts in Edo State, with former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, serving as the vice-chairman. He assured the public that the recovery process would adhere to the law.

“We appeal to members of the public who may have information on individuals still in possession of government vehicles to come forward and assist us. With just two weeks to complete this task, we already have leads on several individuals still holding these vehicles,” he added. “We are determined to carry out this assignment in accordance with the law, and we are confident that the Edo State Government and its citizens will benefit from our efforts.”

The committee can be contacted via the phone number 08110165121 for any relevant information.
