The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the nominees for the 2024 CAF Awards, with Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie earning spots among the contenders.

Ajibade, who plays for Atletico Madrid, is nominated for the prestigious Women’s Player of the Year award, while Paris FC goalkeeper Nnadozie is in the running for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

Edo Queens, the reigning Nigeria Women Football League champions, also garnered multiple nominations following their stellar performance at the CAF Women’s Champions League, where they triumphed over the defending champions. Striker Emem Essien and goalkeeper Monle Oyono are shortlisted for the Interclub Player of the Year award, while coach Moses Adukwu is vying for Coach of the Year.

Nigeria’s U-17 and U-20 women’s teams, along with their coaches, received recognition for their impressive showings at the World Cup earlier this year, further highlighting the nation’s football achievements.

On the men’s side, Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is a strong contender for the Men’s Player of the Year award after an outstanding season with Atalanta, earning a spot among the top five nominees. Stanley Nwabali, who plies his trade with Chippa United, is nominated for Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, while the Super Eagles are shortlisted for Men’s National Team of the Year.

The highly anticipated 2024 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 16th in Marrakech, Morocco, celebrating Africa’s finest football talents.
