The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, expressed strong confidence that the end of banditry in Nigeria is imminent, urging troops to collaborate effectively with ground forces and other stakeholders to eliminate the country’s enemies.

His statement follows significant successes achieved by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) troops in the Northwest region over the past week, where numerous bandit hideouts were successfully targeted and dismantled.

Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of two ATAK-129 helicopters into Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2 at the NAF’s Katsina State Airport Wing, the Minister, alongside the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, outlined the capabilities of the newly inducted helicopters.

He emphasized that these aircraft offer distinct advantages over other fighter jets, ensuring that no criminal can evade justice.

“These helicopters are specifically designed to counter bandits and other criminal elements threatening the peace and stability of the Northwest region.

Their deployment is crucial in our fight to restore order and security,” Abubakar said.

He commended the bravery, commitment, and sacrifice of the troops involved in the ongoing military campaign, noting that the efforts are already bearing fruit.

“Positive results are emerging: farmers are returning to their fields, children are going back to school, businesses are thriving, and ordinary Nigerians are experiencing peace once again,” he added.

The Defence Minister also expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by the troops, acknowledging the personal cost of their commitment.

“You have left your families and the comfort of your homes to secure our future, and we are deeply grateful for your service,” he said.

He reassured the military personnel that the government would continue to provide them and their families with the necessary resources, incentives, and support.

With the addition of the ATAK-129 helicopters, Abubakar expressed confidence that the Air Force’s capabilities will continue to grow, ensuring a powerful and effective response to criminal activities.

“These platforms, along with the skilled officers operating them, will make Nigerians proud,” he said.
“Together, we will dominate the battle space and secure lasting success,” he continued.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of cooperation between air and ground forces, urging all involved to work in synergy.

“Synergy is crucial to achieving the maximum effect.

We must continue to work together to defeat our enemies and ensure a safer, stronger Nigeria,” he stressed.

Pleased with the recent progress, Abubakar confirmed that in just the past week, multiple bandit hideouts had been destroyed, contributing to the ongoing successes of the mission.

“If this momentum continues, we are confident that we will soon bring banditry to an end,” he affirmed.

He concluded by reiterating the government’s unwavering support for the troops and their families, urging the public to continue providing valuable intelligence and prayers.

“The end is near,” he stated, emphasizing the need for full cooperation from all sectors.
