The Los Angeles Lakers fell 131-114 to the Memphis Grizzlies, marking their fourth road loss on a tough five-game trip. Now standing at 4-4 overall and 1-4 on the road, the game underscored the importance of Anthony Davis, who missed the match due to a bruised left heel, along with forward Rui Hachimura.
Without Davis, the Lakers struggled to contain the Grizzlies in the paint. Memphis dominated with 60 points in the paint, 15 second-chance points from 12 offensive rebounds, and 27 fastbreak points, exposing the Lakers’ lack of size.
LeBron James led the Lakers with an impressive 39 points on 15-of-24 shooting, adding seven rebounds and six assists. In the process, he made NBA history by appearing in his 1,500th game, adding yet another milestone to his legendary career.
D’Angelo Russell contributed 12 points and three assists, while Austin Reaves added 19 points and five assists for the Lakers.
The Grizzlies were led by Ja Morant with 20 points and five assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jaylen Wells also added 20 points each, helping seal the win for Memphis.
