Northern Central Stakeholders Call for Restoration of APC National Chairman Position

The Concerned North Central Stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged President Bola Tinubu and the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to restore the national chairman position to the North Central Zone, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

In a statement released on Thursday by Mohammed Saidu Etsu, a former APC national chairmanship aspirant, the group emphasized the strong political support President Tinubu enjoys in the North Central Zone, arguing that this should be a key factor in returning the chairmanship to the region.

The statement reads: “As you may be aware, the leader of our party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved a National Executive Council meeting of our party for next month.

“We commend the president for finally initiating the meeting, which we believe is long overdue.

There are many outstanding issues in the party that are of utmost priority to our zone, and our position on them is well documented.

“In setting the agenda for the NEC meeting, we appeal to Mr. President to use his good office to resolve the issues regarding the zoning of the party chairmanship back to the North Central zone, where the seat originally belongs.

“The North Central Zone is currently the party’s strongest political base, with five out of the six states in the zone under APC control—this is a national high by percentage.

“We urge Mr. President to consolidate this acceptance of our party in the zone by rewarding the hard work of our members here.

More importantly, by ensuring that the chairmanship of the party is zoned back to the North Central, the president will be correcting a yearlong injustice to the zone.”
