Inter Miami opened their 2024 MLS Playoffs campaign with a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United, thanks to goals from Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba.
The hosts took control early in the Best-of-3 series, as Suárez struck in just the second minute at Chase Stadium. After a setup by Paraguayan midfielder Gómez, Suárez netted his 21st goal of the season with a swift right-footed finish to the near post.
Atlanta United’s Saba Lobjanidze leveled the score in the 39th minute, sending both teams into halftime tied. However, 15 minutes into the second half, Alba restored Inter Miami’s lead with a stunning long-range goal after receiving a pass from Lionel Messi.
The teams meet again on November 3 in Atlanta for the series’ second leg as Messi and his squad push to advance.
