The Ogun State Police Command has issued a warning to the public about a notorious one-chance robbery gang operating along the Sagamu, Ijebu Ode to Mowe expressway. The alert, communicated by the command’s spokesperson Omolola Odutola on Thursday via her X handle, highlights a concerning rise in incidents involving this gang.
According to Odutola, the command has been flooded with complaints from residents. One recent case involved a victim who was robbed of ₦700,000 at gunpoint after boarding a vehicle from Kajola on Wednesday. The robbers reportedly forced the victim to transfer the money into a POS machine after driving her into a secluded street.
The police spokesperson advised traders and business owners to avoid traveling with large sums of cash and encouraged commuters to record and send videos of their journeys if they have any doubts about the legitimacy of a vehicle.
Odutola stated, “The Ogun State Police Command has become inundated with complaints of a notorious gang operating within the Sagamu, Ijebu Ode to Mowe area. Commuters on that axis are advised to make a video of their next trip and upload it to the police media if they are uncertain about the vehicle. Please alert our traders and business owners not to risk traveling with large amounts of cash.”
The police have assured that investigations into these incidents are ongoing, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to enhance public safety.
