The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of all 21 local government chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions in the local government elections held on Saturday.
Announcing the results in Lokoja, KOSIEC Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, commended the smooth conduct of the polls, describing the process as peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
Notably, a woman was among the newly elected officials, securing the chairmanship position in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.
“The APC performed excellently, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving no seats for the other 18 political parties that participated in the election,” Nda-Eri said.
He further confirmed that the results announced at the KOSIEC headquarters had been previously declared at the various collation centers by the respective Returning Officers.
“As the Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby validate the results collated and announced by the Returning Officers,” he affirmed.
Nda-Eri expressed gratitude to the electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for their roles in ensuring the success of the election.
