Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will miss Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Atalanta and the early part of the season due to a knee injury.
Camavinga suffered the injury during Tuesday’s training session at the Warsaw National Stadium, where he twisted his knee after catching his studs in the ground and colliding with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.
Scans revealed that Camavinga has sprained the collateral ligament in his left knee. Although Real Madrid did not specify an exact recovery timeline, reports suggest he could be sidelined for up to seven weeks.
The 21-year-old was a key player for Real last season, making 46 appearances and helping the team secure both La Liga and the Champions League titles.
As Real Madrid faces Atalanta, the 2024 Europa League winners, in Poland, Kylian Mbappe is expected to make his competitive debut for the club following his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid will also begin their La Liga title defense against Mallorca at the Bernabeu on August 18.
