Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hit back at the media for fueling speculation about his potential sacking following the team’s poor start to the season. The Red Devils currently sit 14th in the Premier League, with Ten Hag’s side managing just two wins in their last seven league games, alongside three defeats and two draws.

The team’s underwhelming performances have sparked frustration among fans, club legends, and pundits, with many calling for the Dutchman’s dismissal. However, Ten Hag insists that the rumors surrounding his future have been exaggerated by the media.

In a pointed response, Ten Hag stated, “We are all on one page in this club. I told this before the break, but several journalists probably didn’t believe me because I see the reports. Internally, the club is quiet. Of course, we are unhappy with our current position, and we have to turn things around with a clear strategy, but we remain calm, composed, and committed to the plan.”

Ten Hag acknowledged the team’s struggles but emphasized his confidence in the club’s direction, despite their low league standing. “We are in a direction. Underneath, I see good patterns, good steps that confirm we are progressing, but the ranking is not lying – it’s not good enough.”

He also highlighted the need for better finishing in the final third, stating, “In general, the players are performing well, but we need to start scoring. That’s the most important part in football if you want to win games. We are getting into good positions, but we need to convert those chances.”

Ten Hag dismissed any talk of being given assurances about his position, adding, “Noise is only coming from some of you (media), creating stories and fairytales, spreading lies. We stick to the plan and are very convinced it will be a success.”

Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on the United manager, with reports suggesting the club’s owners are considering a potential change in leadership. However, Ten Hag remains focused on turning the team’s fortunes around.
