The Director of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) North Central Area Office 2, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe, has called on Corps Members serving in Benue State to leave a lasting legacy and make meaningful contributions during their service year.

During her oversight tour of states within the zone on Wednesday,
She emphasized the importance of making an impact both during and after their mandatory service.

Ogbuogebe addressed the Corps Members, urging them to seize the service year as an opportunity to leave their mark.

“Corps Members should make themselves relevant in their places of primary assignment, and live lives of impact.

Let it be said that an impactful individual passed through,” she stated, encouraging them to be role models in their communities.

Ogbuogebe also stressed the importance of security awareness and building relationships, advising, “Don’t be a lone ranger.

Be security conscious and don’t feel too important to engage with others.”

She highlighted that the service year is an opportunity to form lasting bonds and encouraged Corps Members to build on the skills acquired during their orientation camp for self-employment after their service.

Ogbuogebe reminded them of their significance to the scheme and the nation, noting that the NYSC program aims to mentor young people into becoming better citizens.

In a separate session with the NYSC staff at the state secretariat, Ogbuogebe urged diligence, dedication, and professionalism.

She advised staff members to stay informed on civil service and NYSC operations, warning against extortion and any activities that could tarnish the organization’s reputation.

“Have zero tolerance for extortion and always maintain the NYSC’s integrity,” she cautioned.

She further encouraged staff to prioritize their health and maintain a pleasant appearance, stating, “Don’t neglect your health.”

In her welcome address, the Benue State Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, pledged the commitment of the NYSC team to continue collaborating with the state government and other stakeholders to achieve the scheme’s objectives.
