Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima will depart Abuja for Sweden on a two-day official visit to represent Nigeria in a series of high-level bilateral engagements with Swedish government and private sector leaders.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima’s visit comes at the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

During the visit, Vice President Shettima is scheduled to hold discussions with key Swedish officials, including a meeting with Crown Princess Victoria and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

These talks aim to strengthen collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden in strategic sectors such as ICT, innovation, education, digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.

The Vice President will also engage with Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor.

Norrsken recently launched Norrsken22, a $205 million technology investment fund for Africa, with 40% of its investments expected to be allocated to Nigerian tech entrepreneurs.

The meeting will explore how Nigerian businesses can benefit from this fund, bolstering Nigeria’s growing technology ecosystem.

In addition, Shettima will meet with key stakeholders from both the Swedish government and private sector to discuss further opportunities for collaboration.

A private sector delegation of 12 Nigerian companies already doing business with Sweden will also accompany the Vice President, independently participating in the talks.

During the visit, Shettima will outline Nigeria’s economic reforms and investment-friendly policies, highlighting the wealth of opportunities available in Africa’s largest economy.

The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday.
