Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze could be set for a surprise departure from AC Milan in the upcoming January transfer window, with the club reportedly open to selling him. Despite joining Milan at the start of last season in a €20 million move from Villarreal, the 25-year-old has struggled to secure a permanent spot on the right flank of the Rossoneri attack.

Chukwueze managed just one goal and twelve starts last season, failing to fully live up to the promise that earned him the transfer to the seven-time Champions League winners. While his form improved towards the end of the campaign under former manager Stefano Pioli, who utilized him on the right wing in a 4-2-3-1 formation alongside Christian Pulisic, Chukwueze’s situation has changed under new manager Paulo Fonseca.

Fonseca, who took over after Pioli’s departure, prefers a two-striker system featuring Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham up front, with Pulisic operating on the right, leaving little room for Chukwueze in the starting lineup.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, AC Milan’s management is considering offers for Chukwueze, despite his contract running until 2028. The winger has attracted interest from Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and West Ham, while Atletico Madrid is also reportedly monitoring his situation with a view to bringing him back to La Liga, where he previously thrived with Villarreal.

As the January window approaches, Chukwueze’s future remains uncertain, with potential suitors waiting to swoop in if Milan decides to cash in on the talented forward.

Samuel Chukwueze’s association with AC Milan could end in January, with the club reportedly open to selling.

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze could be set for a shock exit from AC Milan in the coming January transfer window, with the Rossoneri reportedly considering his sale.

The 25-year-old electrifying forward joined the Italian outfit at the start of last season. However, he has failed to make the right flank of the Rossoneri attack his own; hence, the club are considering selling him while he still has suitors.

Villarreal man only managed to show the talent that earned him the €20 million move to the seven-time UCL winners.

Chukwueze only scored one goal in the last season, commanding only twelve starts for the Milan-based side. However, he showed improved form towards the end of the last campaign, with Erstwhile manager Stefano Pioli finding a place for him on the right in a 4-2-3-1 formation that utilises Christian Pulisic, his rival for the right winger role, behind the striker.

Pioli has since gone, and new manager Paulo Fonseca does not seem to share similar ideas. The Portuguese manager prefers to pair Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham up front and field Pulisic on the right, which leaves the Nigerian out of that side.

According to Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport, the Milan hierarchy will consider offers for Samuel, despite his having a contract until 2028.

Another report claims the Nigerian is attracting interest from Premier League sides Aston Villa and West Ham. Atletico Madrid are also said to be considering bringing him back to LALIGA, a league where he has thrived.
