The House of Representatives has resolved to launch an investigation into Team Nigeria’s disappointing performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, aiming to prevent a recurrence in future international competitions.
The resolution, passed on Thursday, expressed concern over the fact that none of the 82 athletes who represented the country secured a medal. Lawmakers criticized the significant budget of over ₦12 billion allocated for the event, which failed to produce any results. Additionally, the House called on President Bola Tinubu to set up a commission of enquiry on sports arbitration in Nigeria.
