President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the first-ever nominations for the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to the Senate for confirmation.
This historic move follows his signing of the bill establishing the NWDC into law in July.
The nominees include Ambassador Haruna Ginsau from Jigawa, who has been appointed as Chairman, and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji from Kano as the Managing Director/CEO.
Other board members represent various states within the region: Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto), Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi), Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara), Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna), Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano), Shamsu Sule (Katsina), and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa).
The NWDC is tasked with spearheading the socio-economic development of the North-West region, focusing on driving growth, empowerment, and overall social progress.
