Nigerian troops have successfully neutralized eight notorious terrorists and rescued 16 hostages in a series of coordinated operations across the country.
On September 22, the Nigerian Army disrupted an attempted raid by terrorists in Borno, aimed at securing supplies.
In the ensuing clash, three terrorists were eliminated, and a significant cache of weapons was recovered. These included a light machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, grenades, and ammunition.
In a separate operation, troops, acting on intelligence, intercepted terrorists in Gwoza Local Government Area, where they were transporting hostages.
Despite harsh weather conditions, one terrorist was killed, and the others fled, abandoning the 16 hostages. Among those rescued were 10 men and six women.
Additional weapons and supplies were found during a follow-up search of the area.
Further success was reported in Yobe, where troops set up a tactical ambush based on intelligence reports.
This led to the neutralization of four terrorists in Gujba Local Government Area. More arms and ammunition were seized during the operation.
In Abuja, troops and security agencies intensified their efforts by conducting stop-and-search operations.
This led to the arrest of suspects in possession of 178 rounds of ammunition, which were concealed in a bag of flour.
The Nigerian Army continues to urge citizens to provide information that can aid in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
