A tragic car accident claimed the lives of three individuals in the early hours of Monday, September 23, at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge toll gate in Lagos.

The collision, which occurred around 1:00 am, involved two vehicles carrying a total of eight people.

According to reports, two victims died at the scene, while a third succumbed to injuries shortly after being rescued. The deceased have been identified, and their remains have been taken to the Yaba mortuary.

Miraculously, both drivers survived the crash without visible injuries. Witnesses noted that while the passengers were fatally injured, the drivers, whose identities have not yet been revealed, walked away unharmed.

A dispatch rider, Junior Popoola Larry, who helped rescue the victims, recounted how one of the injured was alive but tragically stopped breathing about 10 minutes later.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the police’s prompt response to the crash. He stated, “The police transported the occupants to the hospital, where three were pronounced dead. Their bodies have since been moved to the Yaba mortuary.”

One of the drivers, believed to be responsible for the accident, is currently receiving medical treatment and remains in his family’s custody while investigations continue.
