The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has deployed officers to assist in ensuring security during the Edo State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday.
The personnel will collaborate with the Edo State Command and other security agencies to safeguard both the electorate and officials participating in the election process.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Head of Media and Tactical Operations, Okadigbo Edwin, the deployment follows directives from the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi.
The move is part of a broader strategy to ensure a peaceful and transparent election in Edo State.
While addressing the deployed officers, the Anambra State Commandant of the NSCDC, Olatunde Maku, stressed the importance of neutrality and professionalism.
He emphasized that the officers must act within the bounds of the law, maintain transparency, and refrain from any actions that might compromise the integrity of the Corps.
Commandant Maku also urged voters in Edo State to come out in large numbers and exercise their rights without fear of intimidation or harassment.
He encouraged them to report any suspicious activities or electoral offenses to law enforcement agents promptly, assuring the public of a secure election environment.
This deployment underscores the NSCDC’s commitment to supporting peaceful and credible elections across the country.
