Elder statesman and prominent businessman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has donated N1.5 billion to support victims of the devastating floods in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
Dantata made the generous donation during a visit to the Government House in Maiduguri on Tuesday, where he led a delegation from Kano. The 96-year-old philanthropist expressed his deepest sympathies to Governor Babagana Zulum, the government, and the people of Borno, particularly those who lost loved ones in the disaster.
Reflecting on the country’s economic challenges, Dantata urged political leaders and the elite to repent and uphold the fear of Allah in their actions. He also prayed for continued peace and unity in Borno and Nigeria as a whole.
In response, Governor Zulum expressed profound gratitude for Dantata’s visit and donation, describing it as a symbol of hope and solidarity in a difficult time.
“The people of Borno deeply appreciate this act of humanity from a 96-year-old elder statesman. Baba Dantata has donated N1.5 billion to support the flood victims. May Allah reward you with Aljannah. We are truly grateful,” Zulum said.
This follows a similar act of generosity by Dantata’s nephew, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who recently donated N1 billion to aid flood victims in the state.
