In a tragic incident in Mbar community, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, five young men were killed in an attack by suspected terrorists. The victims were ambushed on their way from Mbar town to Koh village by assailants on motorcycles.
The Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) Vanguard, in a statement signed by Chairman Farmasum Fuddang and others, condemned the attack and called for local communities to collaborate with security forces to curb the escalating violence in the region.
“This is not to undermine the military’s efforts, but the active involvement of community members, who know the terrain, can greatly assist in identifying and exposing criminal elements,” the statement read. The group urged residents to remain vigilant and adhere to security warnings, including avoiding late-night movements to minimize risks.
Major Aliyu Danja, spokesperson of 3 Division Nigerian Army, said he would look into the matter, while growing concerns have been raised about the security situation in Plateau State, emphasizing the need for immediate government intervention to safeguard lives and property.
