President Bola Tinubu has praised the Nigerian military for their recent victories against terrorists in Zamfara and Katsina states, following a series of successful operations.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, the president expressed relief at the military’s progress in tackling security threats in the northwest.
The region has been under siege by terrorists, particularly in gold-rich Zamfara, with their influence extending to Niger State and even as far as Benin Republic.
These groups have been extorting local farmers and carrying out attacks across the region.
The military’s Operation Hadarin Daji, tasked with restoring order in the northwest, recently neutralized notorious bandit leader Halilu Sububu, who had been terrorizing Zamfara, Sokoto, and other parts of the area.
Another high-profile terrorist, Sani Wala Burki, was killed in a joint operation in Katsina, while 13 kidnapped students were rescued from a terrorist hideout in Kaduna.
President Tinubu commended the military leadership and intelligence agencies for their commitment and assured them of his continued support.
He urged the security forces to maintain their momentum until all security threats in the region are eradicated.
