President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the celebration of Eid-el-Maulud, urging them to embrace and practise the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the faithful to use the occasion to reflect, pray and draw lessons from the Prophet’s “exceptional virtues”.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
Tinubu also urged Islamic clerics and other religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the lessons of the Prophet’s life into greater commitment to the country.
The President called on Muslims celebrating the occasion to extend acts of kindness and support to the needy and vulnerable, in keeping with the spirit of Eid-el-Maulud.
He further urged Nigerians to pray against insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country.
