The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast cloudy conditions, thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across several parts of Nigeria on Monday, August 24, 2026.
According to the agency’s daily weather outlook, northern states are expected to experience patches of cloud throughout the morning, followed by thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall in the afternoon and evening.
In the North-Central region, cloudy conditions are expected in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall likely across parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger and Plateau states later in the day.
NiMet also forecast cloudy skies across the southern states during the morning, with chances of light rainfall over parts of Ebonyi, Enugu, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
Intermittent moderate rainfall is expected across most parts of the southern region in the afternoon and evening.
The agency advised residents to exercise caution, warning that “strong winds may precede thunderstorms.”
“Residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas should remain alert,” NiMet said in its daily weather outlook.
“Avoid driving or walking through flooded roads. Disconnect electrical appliances during thunderstorms where necessary.”
NiMet also urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather briefings from the agency to support safe flight planning.
