Mal. Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, Media Adviser to Senator Abubakar Sani Bello and an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency, has commenced the construction of 20 solar-powered boreholes across communities in the constituency and parts of the Niger South Senatorial District.

The project was flagged off on Saturday, March 7, in Agaie town as part of a water intervention initiative aimed at improving access to clean and sustainable water in rural communities. The project is expected to be completed within one month.

The solar-powered boreholes will be strategically located across several communities, including Muye, Ebbo, Gulu, Lapai, Agaie, Baro, Katcha, Badegi, Kutigi, Enagi, Jima, Minna, Tswabga, Edobaba and Sachi, among other surrounding settlements in the Niger South axis.

The use of solar technology is expected to ensure sustainability and reliable access to potable water for residents of the benefiting communities.

Muye has, over the years, carried out various humanitarian interventions within the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency, focusing on community welfare and support for vulnerable groups. His activities include the distribution of cows across communities during festive periods, medical outreach programmes and other targeted assistance initiatives.

The ongoing construction of the 20 solar-powered boreholes is expected to significantly improve water access for residents while reducing the burden on women and children who often travel long distances in search of clean water.

When completed, the project is projected to provide potable water to between 20,000 and 30,000 residents across the benefiting communities.

Muye said the initiative reflects his commitment to addressing basic needs at the grassroots and providing practical solutions to everyday challenges faced by communities.

He added that the intervention is part of broader efforts aimed at promoting sustainable development in the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency and across the Niger South region.
