Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his Hollywood debut after joining the cast of the upcoming finale of the Fast & Furious franchise.
The development was announced by franchise lead actor and producer Vin Diesel via Instagram, where he revealed that a role had been specially created for the Portuguese forward.
Sharing a photo of himself with Ronaldo, Diesel wrote, “Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you, he is a real one. We wrote a role for him.”
Soon after, co-star Tyrese Gibson also confirmed Ronaldo’s involvement, welcoming the football icon to the franchise. Gibson shared an AI-generated image featuring Ronaldo alongside the Fast & Furious cast and wrote, “Welcome to the Family! Cristiano Ronaldo. The Global Dance Just Went Into New Heights !!!!!!”
Ronaldo’s casting represents his most high-profile move yet into the film industry, reflecting his growing ambitions beyond football. In April 2025, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner announced the launch of his own film studio, UR•MARV, in partnership with acclaimed filmmaker Matthew Vaughn of Kingsman fame. The studio has already backed several action film projects.
Vin Diesel has previously disclosed that the final instalment of the franchise will return to its Los Angeles roots, place renewed emphasis on street racing culture, and feature an emotional reunion between his character, Dominic Toretto, and the late Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner.
While details of Ronaldo’s role remain under wraps, his inclusion adds further star power to a franchise renowned for its expansive ensemble cast. The film is expected to feature the return of several major stars, including Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez.
Ronaldo, who continues his playing career with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr at the age of 40, is increasingly positioning himself for life after football as he builds a global brand across entertainment and business.
