The Super Eagles of Nigeria have confirmed that all outstanding bonuses and allowances owed to the team have been cleared by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Team captain William Troost-Ekong announced the development on Wednesday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, expressing relief and renewed focus ahead of Thursday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup CAF qualifier against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.
“Issue RESOLVED. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is UNITED and focused as before on representing NIGERIA with our maximum for the games ahead!” Ekong wrote.
Although he did not indicate whether the team trained on Wednesday, his post suggested that harmony had returned to the camp following earlier tension over unpaid entitlements.
On Tuesday, the Watford defender had revealed that the team boycotted training to protest unpaid bonuses and allowances. He clarified that the players had made no fresh demands beyond the payment of what they were owed.
The all-important qualifier against Gabon is scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. in Rabat, with the winner advancing to the play-off final to face either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Head coach Eric Chelle has invited 24 players for the encounter, coming just weeks after Nigeria secured a play-off spot with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Benin Republic.
Players already in camp include Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Fredericks, and Chidozie Awaziem.
Others are Amas Obasogie, Stanley Nwabali, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Raphael Onyedika, Zaidu Sanusi, Frank Onyeka, Alhassan Yusuf, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Victor Osimhen.
With the financial dispute now settled, the Super Eagles are expected to turn their full attention to the decisive tie as they continue their quest for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
