The Edo State Government has indefinitely postponed the resumption of all schools following the recent spike in fuel prices.
In a memo released on Saturday by Ojo Akin-Longe, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, the decision affects both public and private schools, which were initially scheduled to reopen on September 9, 2024.
The government cited rising tensions and the financial strain on families as the primary reasons for the delay, noting that the fuel price hike has made it challenging for many to cope.
Parents and guardians have been urged to closely monitor their children during this period of uncertainty.
The official statement read: “The Edo State Government hereby announces the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in Edo State, originally scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, until further notice.”
