Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his brilliant run of form on Wednesday night, netting his first-ever UEFA Champions League hat-trick to inspire Galatasaray to a commanding 3–0 victory over Dutch side Ajax.
The Super Eagles forward broke the deadlock in the 59th minute with a powerful header before doubling his tally from the penalty spot seven minutes later. Osimhen completed his memorable treble in the 78th minute, converting another penalty to seal a resounding win for the Turkish champions.
The Nigerian international has now scored 12 goals in his last eight European appearances for Galatasaray, underlining his status as one of the most in-form strikers on the continent.
Osimhen had also found the net twice in Galatasaray’s previous Champions League outing — a 3–1 triumph over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
Wednesday’s emphatic victory marked Galatasaray’s third consecutive win in the competition, following their matchday-three triumph over Liverpool, in which Osimhen also netted the decisive goal.
With his latest performance, Osimhen has once again demonstrated his predatory instincts and growing influence in Europe’s elite competition, further cementing his reputation as one of Africa’s finest forwards.
