The Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, has sponsored a comprehensive medical outreach for inmates across correctional centres in the senatorial zone.
The initiative, carried out through Senator Sani Bello’s Constituency Committee on Health, forms part of his ongoing effort to improve access to quality healthcare for all constituents, including those behind bars.
According to the committee, the outreach reflects Senator Bello’s commitment to extending medical care beyond urban and rural communities to correctional facilities—addressing the health and welfare of inmates often neglected by society.
The Constituency Committee on Health, which oversees the senator’s humanitarian programmes on maternal care, child health, nutrition, and community medical support, coordinated the exercise across multiple centres in Niger North.

Senator Bello, known for his inclusive and people-focused approach to governance, said the initiative was designed to ensure that “every constituent, regardless of circumstance, has access to basic healthcare and dignity.”
Observers have commended the senator’s initiative as a rare demonstration of empathy and leadership that prioritises both social justice and human welfare.
The outreach is part of ongoing constituency interventions aimed at promoting holistic community development and reinforcing Senator Bello’s record of impactful representation in the 10th Senate.
