Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, for a four-day working visit focused on tackling Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis and reforming the Almajiri education system.

She touched down at Hamad International Airport on Thursday evening and was warmly received as she began her official engagements. The visit follows an invitation from Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation — a global leader in education, science, and community development.

The First Lady’s mission underscores her commitment to finding lasting solutions to one of Nigeria’s most persistent challenges: ensuring access to quality education for every child, particularly in underserved northern communities.

While in Qatar, Mrs Tinubu will hold discussions with Sheikha Moza, Qatar’s Minister of Social Development, Buthaina Al Nuaimi, and other stakeholders to explore partnerships in education and child development.

Accompanying her on the visit are the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmed, and the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education, Dr Mohammed Sani.

The meetings are expected to pave the way for stronger Nigeria-Qatar cooperation in inclusive education, skill development, and early learning opportunities for vulnerable children.
